Claire Wahmanholm is the winner of the 2022 Montreal International Poetry Prize. She describes the melting of glaciers, the extinction of wildlife, and the loss of naïve vitality in poems that transit beyond the givens of contemporary life. She is the author of Meltwater (Milkweed Editions 2023), Redmouth (Tinderbox Editions 2019), and Wilder (Milkweed Editions 2018), as well as the chapbook Night Vision (New Michigan Press 2017). Her poems have appeared widely, including in Best New PoetsThe Kenyon Review, and Copper Nickel. She lives in St. Paul, Minnesota. clairewahmanholm.com
